You might call me old-school, but I’m a bit of a traditionalist. And let me tell you, the whole rag doll vibe really speaks to me! Recently, there’s been a buzz for Lalaloopsy parties around here. So, I rolled up my sleeves and brainstormed some seriously awesome party ideas. If your kiddos are into these dolls, check out these epic Lalaloopsy-themed bash suggestions!

Decorations

We kept the decorations simple. Oh, and get this—I wasn’t about to break the bank for a 7-year-old who’s just thrilled to have a good time! This ain’t your fancy-schmancy affair. I just wanted to spill the beans on a few activities that were easy, fun, and didn’t cost an arm and a leg! Keep reading for budget-friendly decor, games, and favors!

Man, what a blast that party was! I’m absolutely smitten with those Lalaloopsy-inspired ideas and decorations! It’s a perfect theme for any little girl who’s head over heels for those dolls—everything from the sweet treats to the cute banners and bunting!

I decked out the party using her Lalaloopsy doll collection. The big ones hogged the spotlight on the food table, while the Mini Lalaloopsy crew jazzed up the basement, where all the cool activities and party favors were happening.”

Banners

A blue polka-dot print fill pattern and my Silhouette’s Print & Cut feature were used to create a Lalaloopsy-inspired banner.

Lalaloopy’s are all about buttons, in case you weren’t aware. Because they couldn’t see without their button eyes, adding Buttons Galore buttons and yarn flowers to the banner gave it a Sew Cute whimsical feel.

Yarn Ball

The dolls’ hair is made of yarn, and they have button eyes. A Lalaloopsy yarn ball centerpiece, as well as a few of my daughter’s dolls, were added to the celebration table. Making yarn balls is a breeze.

Centerpieces

I spray painted coffee cans white, wound pink yarn around them, and placed green tissue paper inside for the table centerpieces. I used my Silhouette to cut out scalloped circles, then imported Lalaloopsy clip art using the Print N Cut tool, then placed the little girls on dowels and affixed some additional lovely Buttons Galore buttons.

Dessert Table

The dessert table was equally fantastic in terms of treats and décor. I built my own tablecloth and backdrop. I had to have the large 36-inch balloons for the celebration since I was in love with them.

I hot-glued two large foam boards from Hobby Lobby together and covered the front with white cloth. Then I made the backdrop with the broader ribbon and buttons.

For the tablecloth, I selected pink satin fabric from Hobby Lobby. My daughter’s curtains will be made out of the tablecloth, but I used it on the table first

Backdrops

I think I loved every detail about this charming Lalaloopsy party, from the soft pastel blue-greens and purples to the yarn decor strewn about.

What’s with the backdrops? Wrapping paper sky, tablecloth curtains, fleece clouds, and a lovely wood cutout frame for an enlarged photo of the birthday girl This was printed at Staples as an “engineered print” for around $3 for a 2’x3′ print!

Paper Plate Buttons

I couldn’t leave the pavilion walls plain because this Sew Cute birthday party was held in a park. So I punched circles out of black cardboard and used them to make buttons from paper plates. This was a great idea that I came upon on Pinterest.

My daughter’s eighth birthday was truly Sew Cute and Fun. She had fun with her buddies, including a face painter, balloon animal artist, and a pink cotton candy cart, as well as adding to her collection of button-eyed friends.

Birthday Cakes

Our Lalaloopsy cake turned out extremely adorable, especially given it was the easiest Lalaloopsy Birthday Cake I’ve ever made!

I made a chocolate cake with green frosting to resemble a grassy hill on which to place the Ferris Wheel toy. I applied the icing with a knife in a series of sloppy strokes – talk about simple!

I frosted the cake in under five minutes. I produced a “Happy Birthday Sweety” banner with this printable fastened to wood grill skewers, which reminded me of the entry gates you may see at a real carnival ride, to add a personal touch to the cake.

At our party, I tried to embrace this idea and come up with fresh ways to use things. I inverted a terra cotta plant pot, painted it a festive yellow-and-white polka dot, and used it as a pedestal for the birthday cake instead of a cake stand.

I also created printable cupcake toppers to match. Each flag was attached to a lollipop stick with hot glue, and buttons were put to the top.

We came upon these lovely accordion-folded paper flowers with button centers (they’re called Delights from American Crafts and are meant to be scrapbooking accessories). They were also attached to sticks and mixed in with the flags.

Party Invitations

For kids’ birthday parties, Lalaloopsy doll birthday party invites are perfect! This bright Lalaloopsy invitation is excellent for a Lalaloopsy birthday party and has polka dots, gingham checkered, and argyle pattern background.

Party Favors

These Lalaloopsy treats were budget-friendly party favors. A personalized notepad, coordinating pencil, cupcake eraser, lip gloss, and candy necklace were included. What is the overall cost? Just over a dollar per person!

Aren’t these easy Lalaloopsy party themes really adorable? I’m still in a state of swoon. I wish I could throw more parties so I could plan them all out.

Party Costume

Why not make this a dress-up party? Ask guests to come as their favorite Lalaloopsy dolls. Or, let them use their imaginations to come up with the perfect “doll” and copy that idea in their costume.

If the party will be dress-up, let guests know well in advance. Send an evite, email or text to the families about three weeks ahead of the party. This will give everyone time to gather materials for a great costume.
