My Jasmine Birthday Planning Story
“A Dream Party from Deep Down of My Heart”
So, let me start by saying this: I didn’t plan to become a party planner. I’m just a regular girl in her 20s who works as a freelance writer, drinks too much iced coffee, and occasionally forgets laundry in the washer. But when it comes to family? Especially when it comes to my niece Madison?
I’ll go full Princess-mode in two seconds flat. So when my sister asked if I could help plan a Princess Jasmine-themed birthday party for Madison’s first birthday, I was already halfway to Agrabah before she finished the sentence. Now, don’t let the sparkles and gold fool you—this party didn’t come from a royal budget.

It came from a whole lot of DIY love, a few wild Canva editing sessions, and me whispering to myself, “What would Genie do?” more times than I’d like to admit. But somehow, some way, everything came together. And what started as a small party idea turned into a magical celebration, filled with laughter, pastel balloons, and one very fancy baby girl in a turquoise romper.

But this isn’t just my story. It’s for you too. For the mama scrolling Pinterest at midnight. For the auntie who wants to throw something special. For anyone who wants to create a day full of wonder without breaking the bank. So buckle up that golden sash, grab your tiara, and let’s make some magic—starting with where this royal adventure actually happened.
Party Planning in Your Living Room or Backyard
We didn’t rent out a palace. Nope. This Jasmine birthday bash took place right in my sister’s living room. Which, fun fact, was the same space where Madison learned to crawl, took her first shaky step, and once tried to eat a sock. So yeah, it already held all kinds of magic. We pushed the couch to the wall, rolled out a cheap purple rug I found on sale (because duh, Jasmine’s color is purple), and hung up a few gold and purple balloons. Instantly, it felt like a mini version of the Sultan’s palace—minus the camels and elephant parades.

Now, if you’ve got a backyard? Honey, you’ve got yourself a Jasmine-approved courtyard. Just imagine golden cushions on picnic blankets, little lanterns hanging from trees, and fairy lights twinkling like desert stars. It doesn’t need to be expensive—it just needs to feel warm, dreamy, and fit for a tiny queen.

Plus, hosting at home meant we didn’t have to rush clean-up or pay extra for space. We had more freedom to decorate, more time to laugh, and we even got to play Disney music as loud as we wanted without anyone telling us to “keep it down.” Total win.
The Invitation That Started It All
I swear, nothing sets the tone of a party like a beautiful invitation. It’s like the sparkle before the fairy dust. But let me be brutally honest—when I first started planning, I searched online for Princess Jasmine birthday invites, and my jaw dropped. Some were $20… just to download! And don’t even get me started on the ones that came printed and shipped.
That’s when I had my “Genie moment.” I thought—what if I created something myself? Something gorgeous, easy to use, and 100% free for mamas who are tired of spending their coffee money on party paper. So, I opened Canva, added a swirl of purple and gold, found a dreamy Jasmine graphic with Rajah, tossed in some cute fonts, and boom—our invitation was born.
The invite we used for Madison’s birthday had a royal purple background with soft sparkle details, floating balloons, and a glamorous golden ribbon that curled around Jasmine and Rajah like a hug. Right in the center, we added: “Madison is turning one!” in bright yellow font, followed by the sweetest little party details—time, date, and of course, the location (“Madison’s House,” because we’re extra like that).
What made it even more special? I designed a full matching party kit. The invitation came with a printable welcome sign (which we framed near the front door), a simple but gorgeous photo backdrop, and even thank-you cards with Jasmine and glittery stars. All editable. All free. Because if there’s one thing I believe in—it’s making parties accessible for every mama, not just the ones who can drop $300 on Etsy.
Sending out those invites made the party feel real. Friends messaged things like, “This is SO cute!” and “Where did you get this designed?” and honestly, nothing feels better than saying, “Oh, I made it!” with a smile and zero dollar signs. Of course, once the RSVPs came in, I had to make sure the party itself lived up to the hype…

From Magical Cake to Mini Cupcakes
Instead of a big cake, I went for mini cupcakes so each child got their own, and let me tell you—they were covered in frosting from forehead to elbow in five seconds flat. One mom looked at her son and said, “Well, at least he’s moisturized,” and I nearly spit out my punch. Everything was labeled with cute, printable signs from our free kit, and honestly?

That extra touch made it feel like a professional party—even though I made it all the night before while binge-watching Disney+. The laughter, the frosting, the crumbs on every surface—it was all pure magic. And right when I thought the party couldn’t get any more delightful, the kids discovered the coloring station…
Magic in Every Crayon
“Coloring Pages and Games That Made the Party Extra Fun”
After bellies were full of cupcakes and juice, I could tell the kids needed something to do that didn’t involve running at full speed across the living room. Cue the coloring station—my low-cost, high-reward secret weapon. I’d printed out a bundle of Princess Jasmine coloring pages, along with some of Rajah, Aladdin, and even the Genie (who absolutely deserves more coloring page love). I laid them out on a little table with a rainbow of washable markers, twisty crayons, and glitter gel pens. I called it “The Royal Art Studio,” and within minutes, kids were elbow-deep in creativity.

One little girl drew Jasmine with purple hair because, and I quote, “She’s cooler that way.” Another scribbled pink hearts around Rajah and whispered, “This is for my real cat, too.” My heart melted like a popsicle in July. Madison, in true one-year-old fashion, colored on the wall… but it was washable, and honestly, it just added to the charm.
From My Heart to Yours
I realized that every glittery decoration, every crayon-colored palace, every tiny golden paper plate—it all added up to something much bigger than just a “birthday.” It was a celebration of love, imagination, and the kind of joy that only little ones can bring. And here’s the truth I want every mama and auntie and big sister out there to know: you don’t need a giant budget to throw a party that sparkles.
You just need heart. You just need to care enough to string a few lanterns, bake a few cupcakes, and maybe spend an evening cutting out paper stars with Disney songs playing in the background. So from one sparkle-loving, big-dreaming girl to another—here’s to you. You’re doing amazing. And your little one? They’ll remember this magic, even if it’s just in the way they smile when they see a purple balloon.
FAQs: Just In Case You’re Wondering, Mama
1. What age is best for a Princess Jasmine party?
Honestly, this theme works from one to ten, easily. Jasmine is timeless. My niece turned one, and we still managed to make it interactive, whimsical, and full of sweet moments. But if you’ve got an older child who wants to lean into the glam and glitter? Oh girl, go full royal gala. Add tiara-making, karaoke, and maybe even a henna station for extra fun.
2. I’m not crafty at all—can I still pull this off?
You absolutely can. I didn’t have any fancy tools. Just a laptop, some cardstock, dollar-store supplies, and a deep love for party magic. The templates are super simple to edit, and I include notes on how to print, trim, and style everything. If you can microwave popcorn, you can throw this party. Promise.
